Ex-Zodiac

Ex-Zodiac is a fast-paced rail shooter with a stylized look reminiscent of early 90's 3D games. Join protagonist Kyuu as she fights to free the worlds of the Sanzaru Star System, overrun by the intergalactic terrorist organization known as Zodiac.

FEATURING:
- A retro, colourful, low-poly visual style
- 6 main levels and 6 bonus levels currently (more than 12 will be available after full release)
- Major bosses at the end of each level, each piloted by a member of the Zodiac
- A 16-bit style soundtrack by +TEK combining FM and wavetable synthesis
Controls
This game plays best using an Xinput compatible analogue controller (Xbox, PS4 etc), however digital devices can be used too, such as a D-pad or keyboard (analogue is definitely the way to go, though!). The controls are also re-mappable.
System Requirements
The game should run on most systems, as long as your graphics card supports OpenGL 2.1
Please do not attempt to run this on a real SNES as it will melt.

This game was created using the free and open-source Godot engine with some custom modifications.

Noticed the itch is one minor version behind steam. Please don't forget about us :)
The gameplay is frantic, the music is excellent, the visual style and colour palette are gorgeous. The shift in playstyle from spacecraft to bike, to full-3d combat feels very natural; the currently-final mission (8?) is especially epic thanks to this. Little touches, like surf behind your ship when you touch water, or road-going enemies tumbling out of control when destroyed (during which time you can still shoot them to blow them up early!) really add to the visual spectacle.
I think there's plot but I was too busy juking to read it \_O_/
Lutris can't download the game for me and I'm positive it's because the download files aren't marked by OS like most games on Itch.io.
It's only a minor inconvenience, but I'd appreciate it if the devs could fix that.

I'm having a great time with this game!! It scratches the itch for a starfox just like it, and looks and plays great to boot.
game looks so awesome. i was thinking the "Zodiac" part is a really shitty title while wondering what the "Ex" part means hoping it means something like removed from, anti or zodiac is stupid but upon reading i realize oh thats the title of the bad guy organization that the good guys are up against. hum ok, well thats good then. 😅 makes sense. this game looks so good if idiotic zodiac crap would have had anything else to do with it that would have really sucked. 🙄 those terrorist need to come up with a better gang title.

the guy that is overreacting because there is Zodiac in the title of the game (dont like zodiac either, but come on man) and then calling names on someone who didnt understand. Everybody understood what you meant, but everything else was just weird.

Such a fantastic game, plays very well on my M1 Mac Mini in 4K. Playing also on a PS5 controller, analogue controls are great too

I was about to buy it on Steam but I just found out you are on Itch.io as well! I may rather go for this because DRM-free and you get a bigger cut.
However, I honestly hope updates will be the same between both versions and the Itch one won't be lagging behind!
